Thank You, Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.”
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Imagine having to take a narrow path bridge atop a cliff; you and I know that any misstep will bring one tumbling down into the abyss.
When taking the NARROW PATH, Wisdom, Focus, Determination and Discipline are four very important things we must have so as not to fall into the abyss of sin, depression and destruction.
WISDOM (Prov 4:7, Rom 8:6): Wisdom is sure needed when taking the NARROW PATH; Detailed planning and understanding of the intensity of the journey about to be taken.
FOCUS (Luke 9:62, Heb 12:2a): Focus is a dire need for anyone taking this path because one has to be totally focused; not getting easily distracted which can serve as a source of misstep.
DETERMINATION (1 Corinthians 9:24-27; 2:2, 1 Thessalonians 3:8, 2 Timothy 4:7, Heb 12:1, Luke 9:62): Before beginning this journey at all, one has to be strongly determined to see through to the end come what may because the devil whose aim is to devour will surely try his best to put a dent in one’s determination.
DISCIPLINE (1 Timothy 4:7, Rom 8:1-6; 13:4, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Heb 5:14, Psalms 119:9-11): Now, this will keep one through the journey and will surely help in overcoming any form of weakness, weariness, or undue tiredness as you proceed on the NARROW PATH.
