Ezekiel’s vision of the temple gave us God’s name “Shammah – the Lord is there” (Ezekiel 48,35).  We don’t need to work up His presence.  We don’t induce it. We can’t conjure up the Spirit of God as if He was a genie in a bottle.  It is too late to pray “Lord come. Be present here today”. He is there whether you realize it or not, or feel it, or sense it, or believe it – it is unconditional.  As soon as we gather or even sooner, He is present.  In Matthew 18 He did NOT say “Where two or three are gathered together there I will come”.   He said “There I am”.  His presence does not depend on us at all except to gather together.  We can’t produce it.  He is as much with us before prayer as during prayer, and in church as after church.  “I will never leave you nor forsake you”.  That promise is not conditional. It is a statement of the way things just are. God bless you.
