No human being on earth is better, holier, more righteous, more anointed or more special than YOU before God. The same Blood that washed their sins also washed your own sin. It’s not like Jesus died for some people while a goat was slaughtered for others. We all are equally saved, equally graced and equally anointed. This particular truth is capable of destroying your spiritual inferiority complex. Even the Almighty Elijah is not more special. Talking about our common grounds with Elijah, the bible said “Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.”~James 5:17
Did you just read that? That’s the greatest prophet of ancient times. The prophet who called down fire from heaven. The prophet who stopped the rain from falling. If Elijah happened to be in our generation, we would be worshiping the chair he sat on, drink the water he bathed with, sow into his anointing to tap into his unusual grace, never question any doctrines of his and all such rituals.
But thank God for the wisdom of God in documenting in plain words that the Almighty Elijah was after all, not a SuperHuman. What? Yes…That guy was just a guy like every other regular guy as the bible puts it. The only difference was that he was a Praying Guy. No special anointing. No special power. No special grace to tap from. Just a guy who decided to pray. I feel like blowing in tongues. By deciding to invest his time in prayer, he caused the heavens to shut up and forbid the rain from falling. That’s what happens when a regular guy decides to pray.
Beloved, your spiritual idol is just a regular guy with no special grace but just investing more time to pray. Stop seeking to tap into his anointing with money, you too have knees. Bend those knees in prayer and stop running around like a lazy fool looking for whom to lay special hands on you. If there’s a man to pray, there’s a God to answer. If you can pray, you will command authority.
Paul and Barnabas were guest speakers at a crusade in Lystra. A lame man was healed in that crusade and the people declared that Paul and Barnabas were gods in human form. But again, thank God that Paul was not like the G.Os of our time. He didn’t seize that opportunity to establish his lordship over the people. He didn’t exploit that testimony to raise prophetic seeds. No. Paul was heart broken that the people treated him like a god. Paul couldn’t deal with that. He tore his clothes and was bare chested, revealing his common humanity which is equally prone to weaknesses and emotions as everyone else and with a loud voice, he declared “And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you…” Acts 14:15. That’s genuine Christianity.
Friends, any man of God who makes himself look more special than you is not of God. The devil has hijacked his heart and made it lofty and haughty.
As we continue to push for an apostolic reformation in this generation, we encounter some human beings who have made themselves human shields for their ‘god of men’, (I mean Men of God lol) and we only wonder if these human shields actually know that their papas and mamas are men of like passions. They have sexual urge like everyone else and use the toilets when nature calls. They do not enjoy any special anointing or special grace because the same blood of Jesus that saved them also saved you. Their devotion to serve the body of Christ is honorable and as servants of the only ALMIGHTY GOD, we could hold them accountable to sound doctrine and financial accountability in love, knowing that they are men of like passions and thus prone to errors and mistakes.
Church, this is the truth. I speak this truth in love and respect for everyone. If Elijah and Paul who represent the greatest movements in two separate dispensations can be described as Regular men, how much more your spiritual father, pastor, yourself and myself? We are all equal in Love!
