“Art Thou He That Troubleth Israel” ?

“Art Thou He That Troubleth Israel” ?

Those were the words that came out of the mouth of an anointed but derailed king of Israel at some point in history. He blurted out as soon as he set his eyes on Elijah.

Israel had faced a series of problems under his leadership. Ahab, the King in question, didn’t look inwards to consider if he could be the one in the wrong.

With the backing of a huge number of prophets who prophesied by a lying spirit, he had led the nation of Israel whoring on a large scale, after a foreign god, the Canaanite god named Baal.

Baal was reputed to be the god of fertility, agriculture and rain, the god responsible for the fertility of canaan land. Hence, shortly after inheriting the land, Israel was enticed to turn to Baal and away from Yahweh who gave them the land and all the riches therein on a platter.

Ahab and his wife, Jezebel, had taken the worship of Baal a notch higher than they met it. From a few people in Baal cult, worship of Baal became a national phenomenon, with a temple erected for it in Samaria. Altars were raised in many high places for Baal and some “palace prophets” in their hundreds were ‘aiding and abetting’, prophesying lies.

Business continued as usual until a man named Elijah (meaning Yahweh is God) began to challenge the status quo. He was vocal to assert the Lordship of Yahweh in place of a strange, impostor god called Baal in Israel.

Alas! He was labelled a “trouble maker”. The day Ahab set his eyes on him, that was the word that came from his mouth.
“And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
1 Kings 18:17 KJV

Now friends, that was the thought that came to my spirit when I learned some anointed, prominent preachers called people who oppose their gospel of Mammon, troublemakers. They posited that Satan has set these people against the church of Christ.

They call them troublers of the church because they chose to challenge the status quo.

But, I beg to differ!

The troublers of the church are those who have exchanged the glory of God for money and all that glitters, to the point that church people now think once they have money, then they have Yahweh.

Those who trouble the church are the ones who have made money the face of Christ’s message.

Those who raise strange altars with money using the name of Christ are the ones troubling the church of God.

They that trouble the church are those who use “first fruit” and other spurious offerings as vehicles to divert money from poor church members to the hands of a few, with false promises of blessings from God.

The troublers of the church are the ones who seek to project themselves and make a name for themselves at the expense of Christ, the owner of the church.

Those who assert themselves as high priests over God’s inheritance are the ones troubling the church of Christ.

Those anointed preachers who exalt Mammon above Christ and turn Jesus to a money-spinning industry are the real trouble makers in the church

Friends, please wake up and recognize those who trouble you. Anyone that would use money-raising schemes to collect your January salary as “first fruit” is your troubler hiding in plain sight.

Christ has become to us the firstborn among many brethren and the firstfruit from the dead. “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept”.1 Corinthians 15:20 KJV.
“And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Colossians 1:18 KJV
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren”.
Romans 8:29 KJV

Whoever claimed God is waiting for your first fruit offering to bless you in the new year lied to you.

If God gave you Christ free of charge, he will also, with Him give you all things.

John testified: “Out of the fullness of his grace he has blessed us all, giving us one blessing after another”.
John 1:16 GNB

Paul testified: “He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him FREELY AND GRACIOUSLY give us all [other] things?
Romans 8:32 AMPC.

Any preacher who testifies differently from this is one of those who trouble the church of Christ!

While I’m a firm believer in a local assembly providing adequate support for their ministers, I think it is unacceptable for God’s people to be seen as cash cow using spurious money making schemes.

And I pray that God will open the eyes of every trouble maker in the church of Christ, so as to make a change where necessary.
